0.3mm Pitch Board-to-board (FPC) Connector, the WP5テキサス ホールデム 確率S Series, Has Been Launched

Japan Aviation Electronics Industry (JAE) has developed and launched the WP5テキサス ホールデム 確率S Series, a stacking type board-to-board (FPC) connector with a 0.3 mm pitch and a depth of 1.73 mm, which comes equipped with 5A power supply terminals, for use in compact devices such as smartphones, wearable devices, gaming PCs, and other ICT devices.

Overview

Small and portable device such as smartphones, wearable devices, and tablet PCs are becoming more diversified with high-performance features such as larger batteries, more camera sensors, and 5G wireless communication, resulting in increased current capacity and higher internal density. For this reason, internal connectors must be compatible with high current and become more compact, while maintaining robustness to prevent damage during assembly.
In order to comply with these needs, JAE has developed and launched the WP5テキサス ホールデム 確率S Series, a board-to-board (FPC) connector that is compact but has significantly improved strength with a new armor hold-down structure, improving workability during mating and also supporting a current capacity of 5A.

Balance of Compact Size and Robustness
In order to meet the demand for high density mounting, the WP5テキサス ホールデム 確率S Series has a pitch of 0.3 mm and a depth of 1.73 mm (connector body), which is 21% smaller compared to existing products (WP26DK). In addition, the hold-down not only protects the mating surface, but also has a structure that increases robustness by placing protective bracket on both ends of the suction part on the receptacle side using insert molding. The hold-down on the plug side has a seamless guide structure created by drawing, which provides good alignment.
This allows us to achieve both compactness and good mating workability.

5A Power Supply Terminal
Existing Board-to-board (FPC) connectors (2 row arrangement of mounting area) only allow 3A of current to flow through the power supply terminal If the current capacity is insufficient for certain applications, the signal pins are often used to shunt the power line to be compatible with large currents. However, as the number of connector pins increased in this way, the space required for the connector increased.
Although the WP5テキサス ホールデム 確率S Series is compact, it is equipped with two power supply terminals capable of 5A each, contributing to space-savings mounting surface area.
